Grilled Lobster with Hot Honey Butter placed together on a serving platter.

This week I made Grilled Lobster with Hot Honey Butter, and oh man, it was next level! I split some whole lobsters in half and then seasoned them with an insanely delicious seafood rub. Instead of your traditional garlic butter sauce, I heated some honey, butter, hot sauce, and red chili flakes to glaze on the lobster at the end. I’m so stoked I made these because they were so tasty! Perfect for a chill night in, date night or even a special dinner.

For this recipe, I used my Breeo Y Series, and boy did it do a fine job grilling this lobster dish to perfection! I love cooking with my Y Series  because it’s super portable and creates a “smokeless” fire.

Let’s Get Cooking

Now we’re on to the fun part—cooking!

Prep the Lobster Tails

The first step is to split and clean your whole lobster tails on a clean work surface.

In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients for the seasoning. Lather your split and cleaned lobster halves with canola oil, then thoroughly season. Set in the fridge until you are ready to cook.

Pro Tip: If you’re using live lobsters, it’s better to clean and season them sooner rather than later. The lobster’s nervous system won’t shut down immediately after cleaning and halving it. Placing the lobster halves in the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes will help prevent you from cooking a lobster half that is still slightly twitching.

Preheat your Breeo Y Series Grill to medium heat (about 350F).

Make the Hot Honey Butter

Add a cast iron skillet over the coals to preheat for 1 minute. Melt the butter, then add your hot sauce, honey, and red chili flakes. Once done, pull off and keep warm.

Grill the Lobster Tails

Pull out your fresh lobster tails, and then add them to the grill to cook for 2-3 minutes. First, make sure you grill the meat side down first. Next, flip the lobster tails over and add a spoonful of the Hot Honey Butter mixture on each lobster tail. Once the lobster meat is thoroughly cooked, pull it off and let it cool.

Storage

I’d be surprised if you wind up with leftovers. But if you do, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-5 days.

Reheating/leftovers

There are a couple of ways you can reheat your leftover Grilled Lobster with Hot Honey Butter. Either pop them in the air fryer or arrange them on a baking sheet and place them in the oven at 375 degrees f until warm.

FAQs

Do you rinse lobster tails before cooking?

Yes! Mainly to clean any debris from the shell. It doesn’t matter if you purchased fresh or frozen lobster. You should always rinse the tails before cooking them. Only scrub the top of the shells clean.

Also, if you’re using a whole lobster and prefer to remove the internal organs that’s okay too! I removed them from my lobsters and prefer to rinse that area clean before grilling them.

One word of warning: Try to avoid exposing or submerging the tail meat to water because the meat will soak up the water and give you a soggy lobster tail.

This easy lobster tails recipe is such a delicious way to enjoy this seafood dish. The hot honey butter gives it that sweet flavor with a slight kick that pairs perfectly with the savoriness of the lobster. You’ll have a blast cooking your lobster tail and impress everyone at your dinner table!
