Let’s Get Cooking

Now for the fun part, cooking these juicy steak bites!

Prep the Steak

Begin by slicing up your steaks into cubes and then place them in a food-safe bowl. Add in the teriyaki, minced garlic, brown sugar, rice wine vinegar, and sesame seed oil. Mix thoroughly, then cover and place in the fridge for at least 4 hours, but ideally overnight, to marinate.

Getting this recipe started by grilling the steak.

Preheat Your Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 400F). Add a plancha or large skillet to the grill with oil to preheat for 2 minutes before cooking.

Pull out your steak and drain any excess liquid from the marinade. Then, add your steak to the hot skillet to cook for 4-5 minutes or until 125F internal, making sure to flip and move around frequently.

Add your steaks in batches if needed, so you do not overcrowd the skillet. When the steak is done, pull it off and keep warm.

Cook the Steak

Now, time for the rice. Start by adding a wok to the grill or clean off your previously used skillet. Next, add some oil and then your whipped eggs. Cook slowly until done, then pull off and keep warm.

What to Serve with Garlic Teriyaki Steak Bites

There are numerous dishes that go well with tender bites of steak. Serving them as a main dish over a bed of steaming white or brown rice is a straightforward and traditional option that offers a neutral background for the savory steak bites.

Various veggies, including roasted asparagus, steamed broccoli, or sauteed bell peppers, could also be served with them. You could also do the steak bites with a side of noodles, like udon or soba, or with a salad cooked with fresh greens and a tangy dressing for a more substantial and full meal.

Alternatively, you might include the steak bites with other small morsels like edamame, dumplings, or sushi as part of a larger variety of appetizers or tapas-style meals. It would also be great with a simple side of mashed potatoes, whatever sounds good to you!

Storage

Bites of garlic teriyaki steak should ideally cool to room temperature before being placed in an airtight container for storage. This will aid in avoiding condensation inside the container, which could result in spoiling.

In addition, the moisture from the heat will condense on the inside of the lid if the steak bites are still warm when you place them in the container. This could make the steak bites soggy or degrade more quickly. After the steak bites have cooled, you may keep them in the freezer for up to 3 months or in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating/leftovers

To enjoy your leftover steak bites, heat your steak bits by microwaving them for 30-second intervals, or you can heat them in a pan over medium-high heat until they are warmed to your desired temperature.
